Dr. Uzma Zaidi is a fully trained bone marrow transplant physician and she is currently leading the BMT program at NIBD Karachi & Lahore campuses. She has got expertise in allogeneic bone marrow transplant for benign hematological disorders and blood cancers and autologous transplant in lymphomas and systemic disorders. • She has successfully designed & developed a BMT program for haploidentical transplants in beta-thalassemia and aplastic anemia patients. She also started the BMT program for the first time in Pakistan for rare inherited disorders like Hurler syndrome, Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, and leukocyte adhesion deficiency.

She strives continually for excellence & provides exceptional contributions to improve patient care. With an FCPS degree in hematology & post-fellowship training in clinical hematology & bone marrow transplant, she has a comprehensive understanding of the transplant physiology, immunology & clinical aspects of both allogenic & autologous transplant. She keeps on getting international exposure and updates on new technologies and cellular therapies, which helps to improve patient care & outcomes at NIBD.

Dr. Uzma Zaidi is also working as the clinical head of the section of myeloproliferative neoplasms at NIBD. She is actively engaged in both the inpatient & outpatient management of CML & Philadelphia negative MPNs, including laboratory diagnosis, treatment, molecular monitoring of patients, dealing with disease-related complications, and drug-associated adverse events. There are more than 500 patients of CML & MPN in her follow-up.

Besides clinical skills, she has a keen interest in research. She is a certified clinical research associate and has attended good clinical practice courses as well and has been involved in research activities like phase 4 clinical trials and has worked as a co-investigator in the Global MPN registry. She has published more than 35 original papers/case reports in indexed journals.

Dr. Shafaq Abdul Samad is a European-certified Bone marrow transplant physician currently working as an Assistant Professor at NIBD Karachi. With an MBBS degree from Dow Medical University and FCPS in clinical Hematology, she has expertise in both Allogenic (full matched and hplo) and autologous stem cell transplant. She has incorporated her clinical skills in expanding the haplo identical stem cell transplant program at NIBD for Beta Thalassemia Major, Aplastic anemia, and even rare inherited disorders such as Hurler syndrome, Gaucher disease, and chediak higashi syndrome, etc

She is also working as the clinical head of the section of Aplastic anemia and PNH (Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria) at NIBD and takes a special interest in raising awareness about these disorders via research articles and case reports. She is also actively involved in consultative hematology, especially for anemia and platelet disorders, autoimmune disorders and gynecology, etc.

Dr. Zainab Ghiasi is a fully trained pediatric bone marrow transplant physician. She has got expertise in allogeneic bone marrow transplants for pediatric benign hematological disorders and blood cancers • She has expertise in transplants for Primary Immunodeficiency disorders(PID) like Severe Combined Immunodeficiency(SCID), Reticular Dysgenesis (RD), Inherited Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis like Chediak Higashi Syndrome and leukocyte adhesion deficiency.

With an FCPS degree in Pediatrics & post-fellowship training in pediatric hematology & bone marrow transplant, she has a comprehensive understanding of the transplant physiology, immunology & clinical aspects of both allogenic & autologous transplants.

Dr. Zainab Ghias is also working as the clinical head of the section of Pediatric Leukemia at NIBD. She is actively engaged in both the inpatient & outpatient management of Pediatric Leukemias (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia & Acute Myeloid leukemia) including laboratory diagnosis, treatment, molecular monitoring of patients, dealing with disease-related complications, and drug-associated adverse events.

Besides clinical skills, she has a keen interest in research. She has attended good clinical practice courses as well and has been involved in international research activities like the ADAPT survey in Pediatric Palliative care in Pakistan.

Dr. Aisha Jamal is a consultant clinical hematologist, currently leading the section of acute leukemia, and working as an adult bone marrow transplant physician at NIBD & BMT hospital. Dr. Aisha Jamal has double post-fellowship training in the fields of acute leukemia and bone marrow transplantation, respectively. Her expertise in the sections of acute leukemia and bone marrow transplantation makes her uniquely capable of designing patient-tailored treatment plans for patients suffering from life-threatening hematological malignancies (blood cancers).

Dr. Aisha Jamal is a faculty member of the malignant department of NIBD hospital and she has a number of patients under her care who are suffering from various hematological malignancies like acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), Hodgkin & non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, and multiple myeloma. She has successfully established the section on acute leukemia and has implemented the latest chemotherapeutic protocols, molecular targeted therapies as well as immunotherapies for different blood cancers. She is also a European-accredited bone marrow transplant physician and part of well developed and rapidly expanding program of bone marrow transplantation for hematological malignancies at NIBD & BMT hospital. She has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of both allogenic and autologous stem cell transplantation as well as skills to identify patients with hematological malignancies best suited for bone marrow transplantation.

Dr. Aisha also received her certification in infection prevention and control from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA, and is an active member of NIBD’s team of infection control and prevention. Dr.Aisha Jamal aspires to be a physician-scientist and is actively involved in various research projects pertaining to her field. She has authored a number of original articles that are published in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Aisha Jamal is a very compassionate and committed physician. Hematological malignancies carry a dismal prognosis all around the world but the outcome is even worse in developing countries like Pakistan. Dr. Aisha Jamal and her team are working round the clock to improve the management and outcome of patients with hematological malignancies in Pakistan. Her future endeavors include establishing a leukemia survivorship program to facilitate leukemic patients in understanding their disease, to find kinship with people suffering from similar calamity, to share their own experiences and to find hope in the fact that hematological malignancies are not incurable and a well suited patient tailored treatment plan can not only improve the quality of life significantly but can also put the disease in remission.

Dr. Waseem Ahmed is a fully trained physician and clinical Hematologist. Currently, he is a consultant hematologist at NIBD & BMT Karachi. He is also doing post-fellowship in bone marrow transplant including allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants in various benign and malignant disorders. He is part of a team that has successfully designed and developed a BMT program for haploidentical transplant in beta-thalassemia and aplastic anemia patients, who also started a BMT program for the first time in Pakistan for rare inherited disorders like Hurler syndrome, Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, Chediak higashi syndrome, and leukocyte adhesion deficiency.

With an FCPS degree in clinical hematology and post-fellowship in bone marrow transplant, he has a comprehensive understanding of the transplant physiology, immunology, and clinical aspects of both allogeneic and autologous transplants.

Besides clinical skills, he has a keen interest in research. He has published research on blood donor safety and multiple research paper in process of publication related to bone marrow transplants.
